Bewley Cup Report vs White Rock - MATCH REPORT

posted 21 Oct 2016, 03:24 by Stephen Eccles   [ updated 24 Oct 2016, 07:56 ]

Football
Squad: Lynch; Driscoll; Watkins; Mortimer; Poole ©; Hale; Martin; Wood

And so the season continues... The newly crowned ESFA Cup champions travelled to White Rock to start their Bewley Cup campaign, the second of seven trophies up for grabs.

We started quickly with a firm challenge in the middle of the park from captain Liam to set the tone for the rest of the game. A pass forward fell nicely into the path of James who slotted home cooly. 1-0. A fine save from Lynch kept the score at 1-0 before Ryan toe poked home from close range, after a goalmouth scramble. 2-0. Half time.

Just before the third, Lynch made another two inspired saves to keep the score at 2-0 before Poole smashed one into the top corner for 3-0. The interchangeable Driscoll, Mortimer and Wood kept their efforts going for the team before Watkins smashed a half volley in for 4-0. We were as good as the scoreline suggested and hopefully, we will be able to carry this form on after half term. In the next round, we have Warberry away.

Come on Barton!

Friends of Barton Need You

Need your help
FRIENDS OF BARTON NEED YOU

Friends of Barton is a group of teachers and parents/carer’s who are committed to organising and holding events to raise money for the children of Barton Hill Academy. There are lots of different roles for everyone in the team, from helping out at discos and cake sales to organising your own event or fundraiser. It can be a great way of being involved in your child’s school life as well as meeting other like-minded parents. We organise many different events throughout the year, including a Christmas and Summer Fair. This year we would like to add more events to our calendar.

Signing up to join Friends of Barton does not mean you will have to help at every event, it just means we will keep you informed of upcoming events. Why not come along to a meeting and meet us to find out what we are up to?

If you cannot help, is there a grandparent or other relative who would enjoy supporting the school? Send them along, everyone is welcome.

Great to test our hockey skills against other teams. Scoring 15 goals and only conceding 6 tells you how unlucky we were. We had great fun at the tournament. Jason even took a stick to the face for the cause!! Well done all
