\\BPSData\TonyP\Downloads\_DSC0136.JPGBarton Hill Academy is delighted to be the beneficiaries of sports funding from Sovereign Housing Association, who manage housing association schemes within the Barton locality. Representatives from Sovereign offices in Bristol and Exeter visited The Academy to present one thousand pounds which has been spent on new kit for both boys and girls football teams, ranging from years four to years six, who participate in The Torbay District Football league. Mr Ben Cowling, P.E. Coordinator and principal football coach commented.

“We are obviously delighted to have received this generous sponsorship from Sovereign, who have shown their commitment to supporting us. It was touching to see the pride with which the children now ware their new attire. It is thrilling for the children to look as professional as they now do and the new look has certainly raised the level of enthusiasm in all the teams. As the saying goes, about looking good and feeling good….well, maybe successful results will follow! We are very fortunate for the generosity Sovereign has shown, and I would like to express my gratitude to them on behalf of the children.”

Having undergone significant refurbishment, to the extent that modern day Barton Hill internally barely resembles the original 1930’s school, the next phase in the development is the laying of a new sports pitch at the rear of the school. Head teacher Jane Young added.

“The sponsorship of the football kit is potentially just the start of our relationship with Sovereign  who have intimated the possibility of further support such as coordinating activities like a walking bus. As the school is on the doorstep for families involved in Sovereign schemes such as Beechfields, we are pleased to develop this relationship, with the ambition that this will benefit the community we both serve. Thank you to Sovereign for supporting our school.”
