Group Games – Won 1 Lost 1

Preston swatted away in the first game. 3-0

White Rock were much more challenging, losing 3-2 .As a team, we were very hard on ourselves after the game because of our passion and desire to win. In hindsight, maybe this was the best thing for us that we needed to play as a team.

Quarter-final – Sherwell Valley

What a game this was! What a reaction from all nine of the boys! All I asked was for them to work hard and work together. As a team, they gave everything… and more. Defending defiantly and attacking with purpose, we finally broke through with five minutes left thanks to Liam Poole’s looping header. 1-0. Job done!

Semi-final – Babbacombe

A refocused group of players, now with the chance of making Barton’s first final in five years. Would it slip their grasp? No chance! Three quick goals in the first half led to us winning 5-1, making the final!

Final – Shiphay

The group were sent out with a simple question… Can they win it for themselves today? I left them for their own team talk, led by captain Sean. I don’t know what was said, all I know is that it worked! Another battling, gritty, spirited display followed. A shot hit the post from another attack and their defender caught it. Penalty! Up stepped Liam Poole to take it. I turned away, I couldn’t watch (too nervous). SWISH, the net rippled. 1-0!!! A couple of last minute saves from Riley kept us in the lead… CHAMPIONS!

A massive thank you to Mr. Price and Mrs. Bickle for their support, encouragement and in Mrs. Bickle’s case, driving the minibus!
